"Short, sweet and scenic, this (The Sheep's head Way) must be the best in Ireland. It takes in a superb moorland crest and rugged cliffs, as well as easy lowland terrain." Country Walking
Sheepshead Peninsula
Sheep's Head, also known as Muntervary (Irish: Rinn Mhuintir Bháire), is the headland at the end of the peninsula between Bantry Bay and Dunmanus Bay in County Cork.

The Sheep's Head Way is an 88 km long-distance trail which follows old tracks and roads around the peninsula from Bantry to the headland and back. The trail is very accessible and is well signposted (see image below).

Chosen as the best walk in Ireland by Country Walking magazine, this 55 mile Long Distance Walk has a huge variety of terrain all with beautiful views, and there are many long and short loop walks available.

The peninsula has three villages, Durrus (six miles from Bantry), Ahakista (twelve miles from Bantry), and Kilcrohane (sixteen miles from Bantry). See the map of west cork for distances and driving directions.
